Counselling
Create a healthier mindset.
What is Counselling?
And its purpose
Counselling is a professional relationship that helps individuals explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in a safe and supportive environment. It aims to provide guidance and support for personal growth, emotional healing, and problem-solving. Through various techniques and approaches, counsellors assist clients in understanding their challenges and developing coping strategies to improve their overall-being.
The techniques and/or approaches I typically use are person-centred, along with elements of solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)/mindfulness.
What to Expect
How the appointment is approached
Upon booking, you will receive an intake form to complete before your appointment via email. On arrival, with consent, we will complete a Kessler-10 (K10+) questionnaire and Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21) questionnaire, to give a baseline of where you are at. This is often repeated 6-10 weeks later to give an indication of how things are faring. From here, you are invited to share, at any level of depth, what your situation is currently, and what your goals and/or aspirations are for counselling.
We operate from a trauma-informed basis. Meaning that we are not delving into trauma's that are triggering, or what you're not ready to deal with. Please feel free to highlight this at the commencement of counselling if you want to.
The intake appointment is approximately 60 minutes, and the return appointments are approximately 45 minutes and cost $175 and $140, respectively. You do NOT need a referral or Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP to obtain counselling services here at Nourish & Thrive.
